What We Believe
We believe that “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. God has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God; we call this the Trinity.
God as Father
We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Trinity and is the eternal, unchanging, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving, completely just and perfectly holy, sovereign Ruler and Sustainer of the universe. He is the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Father of all true believers.
Jesus Christ (God as Son)
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to His Father’s right hand where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
God as Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. The Spirit is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. The Spirit guides and sanctifies every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides the Christian with power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance in following the commands of God. Every Christian receives gifts of the Spirit that empowers him/her to serve God and the Church.
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when a person places his/her faith in Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection.
